Top of Page   Meet our President Wendy Calla McDermott, Ph.D. is the President of GoodSense English.  She has more than 25 years of experience as a professional writer, editor, and university professor, specializing in Linguistics, English as a second language (ESL), and foreign languages. Most recently, she worked at Educational Testing Service in Princeton, New Jersey, writing and editing test items, training materials, publications, and research for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC), and other language tests.  She obtained her doctorate in Linguistics at Cornell University and has an extensive background in the theoretical foundations of ESL. Dr. McDermott is the recipient of numerous academic honors and awards. Top of Page   Our Staff GoodSense English editors have extensive experience in working with non-native speakers of English, and they are sensitive to the cultural and linguistic complexities that are involved in writing in a second language. They understand how hard it can be to learn another language - and how hard it can be to write in another language. Most of all, they enjoy writing and editing, and that is demonstrated in the high quality of their work. Top of Page   Our Philosophy of Editing We believe that editing should maintain the author's "voice" in the writing because that is what makes the writing interesting.  When GoodSense English is finished editing your document, the writing will be free of errors and non-native language interference, but your "voice" --your style -- will still be evident. We work closely with you to ensure that you are completely satisfied.
